Competitive intelligence (CI) is the process of gathering and analyzing information about the competitive environment in which a business operates. By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of competitors, businesses can make informed decisions about how to position themselves in the market, identify potential threats and opportunities, and develop effective strategies to achieve their goals.
One of the primary benefits of competitive intelligence is that it allows businesses to stay ahead of the competition. By gathering information about what their competitors are doing, businesses can identify areas where they can improve their own operations, differentiate themselves in the market, and better serve their customers. Another benefit of competitive intelligence is that it can help businesses identify potential threats to their operations. For example, if a company learns that a competitor is planning to launch a new product that could undermine its business, it can take steps to prepare for the potential impact and develop a plan to mitigate the risk. Additionally, competitive intelligence can help businesses identify new opportunities for growth. By understanding what their competitors are doing and what customers are looking for, businesses can develop new products or services that meet those needs and capture a larger share of the market.
Here at LCN, we take pride in our work. The Competitive Intelligence reports we generate are top-notch, with information triangulated from a variety of sources including both primary and secondary research. Our internal operational processes reflect our commitment to quality. Reports undergo a rigorous quality control process known as "The Ring" before ever reaching the client.
Why is it called the ring? We liken it to a boxing ring in which the insights are “beaten up” prior to being sent to the client. We even purchased an authentic ringside bell, which we ‘ding’ to initiate the report review.
In these sessions, research is scrutinized by the broader LCN team. The broader LCN team assumes the role of the client and challenges the information. The project manager must be able to defend his findings, analysis, insights, and conclusions. We take our role in delivering exceptional insights to our clients seriously. We think out of the box and leave our comfort zones behind. Upon the conclusion of the ring session, the participants sometimes look like they have been through a boxing match! Work is revised based on feedback in these sessions. This ensures a high level of customer satisfaction and drives new key intelligence topics and questions.
Let us know how we can help you stay ahead of the competition!
